It is believed that Hook End Manor was originally built for the Bishop of Reading, circa 1580. Later additions to the house include the oak panelled dining room which probably dates from the 1920s. The Tudor heart of the house is the oak panelled reception hall and up a flight of stairs leads to the charmingly eccentric bedrooms, some designed by Gilmour, others by a previous owner, financier Charles Clore. Most of the five ensuite bathrooms have gold claw-footed baths, 1930s tiles and old fashioned overhead water tanks. The lilac-blue Royal Doulton bathroom with its diva-sized bath and heart shaped sinks has witnessed its fair share of mischief!
Hook End Manor is now owned by Mark White, singer/songwriter with Russian based band, 'Godnose'. He is proud to present the newly refurbished and upgraded studio as somewhere to create a masterpiece!
